MEMPHIS – ARTSmemphis, the Mid-South’s primary arts funder, has announced the distribution of $87,530 through the Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant program to 34 nonprofit organizations in West Tennessee.
Arts Build Communities, in partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission, directly supports arts projects that broaden access to arts experiences, address community quality of life issues through the arts, and enhance the sustainability of asset-based cultural enterprises. The Tennessee Arts Commission designates ARTSmemphis annually as its designated West Tennessee partner for arts funding in the Lauderdale, Fayette, Shelby and Tipton counties.
“We are so grateful to the Tennessee Arts Commission for directing investment to our region, which we are proud to facilitate and award to creative organizations across our community,” said ARTSmemphis President & CEO Elizabeth Rouse.
First-time grant-awarded programming this year includes Kifani Kids’ Shelby County A to Z Art Installations around the community, Music on the Somerville Square, and Hifi Memphis Community Development Corporation’s mural for 164 Madison Avenue, the home of a new public market on the ground floor of The Sterick Building.
For organizations that are solely arts-focused, the ABC grant serves as an introduction to the ARTSmemphis pipeline of grantmaking opportunities.
“The ABC grant is an ideal entry point for nonprofits to begin developing a deeper and long-lasting partnership,” continued Rouse.
ABC-funded programs, listed below, will be featured throughout the year on ARTSmemphis’ channels and events calendar. For more information, visit artsmemphis.org.
