Now is the time
to recognize the power of art.
Why now? 2026 presents a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the remarkable milestone anniversaries of many dynamic arts organizations in Memphis, but also for all of us in the arts industry—collectively—to stand up and be recognized.
The visionaries behind these institutions have accomplished the unimaginable while creating work that moves and inspires both our community and the world—and without asking for credit. Now is the time to unapologetically recognize that work: the art, the artists, the organizations, and the impact of our arts sector on the vitality of Memphis.
Art is at the heart of Memphis’ brand, our culture and our unique position. You can’t define or describe our city without the culture that weaves us all together — the music, the visual art, the food, the fashion, and the creative energy.
Our arts destinations and artists are programming and delivering 2 million arts experiences annually for every zip code and demographic in Shelby County, not to mention the tourists that cite our art as a primary motivator for visiting.
Memphis is in the national conversation, featuring us as a top place in the world to visit in 2026 by the New York Times. Historic and cultural institutions, museums, and creative hubs have not only placed Memphis on the stage, but they have brought us straight into the spotlight.
With over 20 arts organizations celebrating a major anniversary here in Memphis this year, this is not about a moment or a singular milestone — it’s a movement.
We all need to recognize the power of art.
Thank you to Playhouse on the Square, Ballet Memphis, Stax, Cazateatro, Jared Boyd, Raneem Imam (“Hit ‘N Run”), Lensrentals and all of our supporters for their participation in bringing this 100% locally produced campaign to life.
