Tennessee Arts Commission

The Tennessee Arts Commission was created in 1967 by the Tennessee General Assembly with the special mandate to stimulate and encourage the presentation of the visual, literary, music and performing arts and to encourage public interest in the cultural heritage of Tennessee. The mission of the Tennessee Arts Commission is to cultivate the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities. Their vision is a Tennessee where the arts inspire, connect and enhance everyday lives.

The Tennessee Arts Commission and the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville have teamed up to offer Tennessee nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and artists a series of webinars designed to navigate these challenging times. Over the next six months, a webinar will be presented each month. Topics will range from how to hold an online fundraising event to leadership in times of crisis.

  • We support and promote the work of the Arts Caucus in the General Assembly.
  • We organize and produce advocacy events, culminating in the annual Arts Advocacy Day each March at the State Capital.

Tennessee Association of Museums

Founded in 1960, the Tennessee Association of Museums fosters communication and cooperation between museums, cultural societies, and other members on matters of common interest to all. Our goal is to inform the public on the importance of understanding and preserving Tennessee's cultural, historical, and scientific heritage. We also encourage publication and dissemination of information on the state's past as well as the development of professional standards of members who bring that past to the public.
