The new issue of Arts Link, the official magazine of Americans for the Arts, highlights community engagement efforts by Memphis arts organizations.
The article quotes ArtsMemphis President & CEO Elizabeth Rouse: “We know that arts organizations and communities must build deep trust and that this work must be approached as part of an organization’s mission. The arts organization and the community should be equal partners from the get-go. We strive to do this through our support of various programs.”
The article calls attention to ArtUp Fellows Program, which was initially piloted here at ArtsMemphis. ArtUp's program trains civic leaders and artists to use the arts as a tool for community revitalization. Arts Link also gives a nod to the terrific engagement work being carried out by New Ballet Ensemble and PRIZM Ensemble, respectively.
