ArtsAccelerator - An Incentive Grant for Visual Artists will help artists who are at a critical juncture in their work offset expenses related to a project or opportunity that would enhance the artist’s overall work or career. The ArtsAccelerator grants will support the areas of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation art, performance art, video or media art and craft.
Individual funding requests for ArtsAccelerator grants may be up to $3,000 and are available to local artists at all career stages. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013. The first ArtsAccelerator grants will be awarded in November 2013.
The new fund will be introduced to the Memphis arts community during the ArtsAccelerator Launch Party from 8 p.m.-midnight, Saturday, August 10, at Crosstown Arts, 430 N. Cleveland. The event is free and open to the public.
Interested applicants also are invited to attend free grant workshops scheduled to be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, at Firehouse Community Arts Center, 985 S Bellevue Blvd.; at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, at Caritas Village, 2509 Harvard Ave.; and at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, at Germantown Community Theatre, 3037 Forest Hill Irene Road.
The grant program was developed with the participation of ArtsMemphis’ Artist Advisory Council, which includes Maysey Craddock, Tobacco Brown, Melissa Dunn, Pinkney Herbert, Richard Lou, Lester Merriweather, Chris Miner and Joel Parsons.
