Enhancement Grant

The purpose of our Enhancement Grants, which come from a specific fund of our endowment, is to provide financial support for extraordinary cultural experiences by investing in visionary or innovative strategies to drive organizations’ achievement of their mission and goals.  Please review the information on the tabs below for eligibility requirements and application guidelines.

Purpose and Scope

Enhancement Grants are intended to function as venture investments and to have an impact for multiple years such that the organization can continue to make progress and realize the benefits of the funding before submitting a request for another Enhancement Grant.

Projects or initiatives should be visionary and innovative, not capital in nature. Provide rationale or evidence as to the visionary or innovative nature of your proposal.

Projects or initiatives based on research or evaluation should provide this information as reference for the proposal.

Enhancement funds will be awarded based on one or more of the following broad principles:

  • Building an organization’s capacity long term
  • Increasing long term earned income streams
    • Earned income is revenue generated from the sale of goods, services rendered or work performed.
    • This may include: entrepreneurial activities, enterprise endeavors, revenue-generating projects, etc.
  • Advancing research to inform the organization’s long-term plans that also has utility to the community and/or sector.
  • Catalyzing/assisting an organization to expand impact, access, and sustainability.
  • Work that advances innovation and increases relevance, through groundbreaking or participatory experiences that reflect the unique characteristics of our communities.
  • Funding venture capital/risk-taking initiatives with potential for return of the investment and broad community impact.
