Each year, ArtsMemphis produces Arts Week, a week-long celebration to showcase Memphis’ dynamic, diverse collection of artists and arts organizations. An officially-proclaimed holiday by both the City of Memphis and Shelby County during the second week of December, Arts Week spotlights the significance of art to Memphis’ world-renowned cultural vitality.
ArtsMemphis is proud to serve as a convener and connector for not only arts resources and advocacy but also for community celebration. Initiated in 2020, which was limited to virtual and social media-hosted celebrations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second-annual Arts Week December 5-12, 2021 welcomed highly-anticipated performances and safe in-person experiences from over one dozen of ArtsMemphis’ grantees. In addition, ArtsMemphis produced a series of events, including a special edition of Downtown Memphis Commission’s Food Truck Thursday in Court Square.
Additionally, Arts Week has welcomed a generous matching donor of all financial gifts made to ArtsMemphis during the week-long holiday. Donations to ArtsMemphis surpassed the $30,000 matching challenge during Arts Week 2021.
Whether a donor, patron, educator, artist or stagehand, together, we are all contributors to the arts. Scroll through past Arts Week photography and experiences, and mark your calendars for next December’s Arts Week return.
Arts Week events made possible through funding by the Tenneessee Arts Commission.
