FireHouse Community Arts Center

Gateway to Soulsville, USA The FireHouse Community Arts Center, home to MBAA is a historic 1910 city fire station converted into an inviting and nurturing multi-disciplinary arts center and grounds including the Fannie Lou Hammer AgriCultural Garden. The Center—available for private rentals-provides a vital gateway to the Soul of the City, South Memphis/Soulsville, USA, which is home to this region’s most historic African-American contributions to education, business, religion and culture.

      Jazz-A-F!RE FireHouse Community Arts Center Jazz-A-F!RE Presented by Memphis Black Arts Alliance at FireHouse Community Arts Center March 25-November 25, 2012 Enjoy soulful Memphis Jazz at the Memphis Black Arts Alliance’s monthly jazz and jam session held every last Sunday, 3-5pm, with the Jazz-A-F!RE Ensemble, which includes vocalist Naomi Williams Moody, vocalist-trumpeter William "Nokie" Taylor, bassist Kent Suggs, and guitarist Lance Thompson along with regulars Stephen Lee on piano and James "Bishop" Sexton on drums as well as special guests.
