About the artist:
I am a producer, director, and screenwriter and have been in artistic related business for around 15 years. I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. Sneaking onto Beale Street as a kid and seeing these down and out blues musicians turn their hats up so their art could feed them for a night taught me what being an artist is really about.

Project Description
Many famous bluesmen died penniless. The companies that produced their music made millions. More are out there and this documentary intends to help. Should the exploitation of these men and women be just a footnote in history? From director Lee Gordon comes this shocking expose about abuse and oppression in the blues world THAT STILL EXISTS TODAY! What sets this documentary apart from all others, is the social action aspect. If we make a blues documentary for mass consumption, are we not continuing the exploitation cycle? To combat this, every blues musician will be offered part ownership in the film. This is THEIR story and THEY should own it..
This is PHASE ONE of fundraising. The $10,000 goal will be allocated for production only (crew, equipment, insurance, etc). Why is it so low? The crew is working at minimal rates because we feel that this documentary is important, and its subject matter long ignored. Any funds over our goal will go directly towards PHASE TWO, which consists of editing and post production of the film.
Help us right these wrongs and expose the ongoing exploitation of bluesmen. Every dollar helps!
