      October 31, 2011 To whom it may concern, I am writing about the marching band competition that was held Saturday the 28th of October at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN. Band Masters is supposed to be a competition on marching skills and difficulty in the marching music. I was disappointed when I observed that the judging was based on political and personal agendas. The Houston Band was not given full marks because one of the judges is a Munford alumnus and marked the band 19th out of 36 in general effect. I am not saying Houston was the best but they were not 19th either. If Band Masters cannot find unbiased judges then maybe they should not host a band competition. Houston went to four other competitions over the last two months and never received such a low score and this past performance was better than all the others. I am ashamed that the University of Memphis would allow this travesty to occur and I will no longer support Band Masters. Collapse
