Artists' Link, Memphis Area Visual Artists

Artists' Link, Memphis Area Visual Artists, is a volunteer organization founded in 1989 as a resource and support group for Memphis area visual artists and as a link between artists and the community. We hold monthly meetings, weekly breakfast get-togethers, group exhibitions, and other art related activities. Monthly meetings are held August through November, and January through May usually on the third Monday at Saint John's Episcopal Church-Parish Life Center, 3245 Central Avenue at Greer, one block East of the Pink Palace. Park behind the brick serpentine wall on Central Ave., and enter the door facing the parking lot. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor, then first room on right. Gather 6 pm to 6:45 pm, meeting 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm. Visitors are welcome to participate in the fellowship and art discussions. Weekly Artists' Link meets informally on Thursday mornings at 8:30 am for food and discourse at Dino's restaurant (private room) on McLean near Tutwiler and Rhodes College. Monthly program meetings have included copyright law, artist colonies, photographing art, demonstrations of art techniques and supplies as well as field trips to local exhibitions, and critiques by local professionals and gallery directors. Art workshops are also held occasionally at the Flowers Trout Resort in Cotter Arkansas. Artists' Link supports community organizations each year with activities such as donating to an Art Auction to benefit Exchange Club's Family Services, painting a mural for the South Park Branch of Girls, Inc., donating a $200 painting prize to Memphis Area Festival artists' competition each year for five years, and assisting a resident of the Kings' Daughters Home with her painting.

    • ArtsMemphis logo

Known around the world for its blues and rock and roll, Memphis has a recognizable special vibe. ArtsMemphis exists to nurture this unique character and to magnify the city’s creative voice. We are a 45-year-old arts funding organization (the sixth largest in the United States), which provides annual operating and project support to 23 arts groups and administers some 150 additional grants on a year to year basis. The ArtsMemphis tagline is “your support matters” and indeed it does. As major fundraisers, grant-makers and arts promoters in the city, ArtsMemphis contributed more than $4 million to the Memphis arts community in 2007, and it is a fact that 95 cents of every dollar raised in our annual campaign is directed to our funded organizations. ArtsMemphis builds partnerships among artists, arts groups, donors, educators and culture lovers throughout the city and region. Recognizing that a lively arts scene has a major economic impact and is essential to the quality of life in Memphis, ArtsMemphis is encouraging the entire community to interact with the arts like never before. The current enhanced website with its expanded calendar of events has been introduced with that goal in mind.
