Memphis Irish Arts Foundation

Memphis Irish Arts Foundation is a 501 c-3 non-profit organization whose objective is to support and promote Irish culture throughout the Mid-South through Irish music, dance, arts and crafts and culinary. MIAF has been in place since 1997. Every Memorial Day Weekend in Memphis, the MIAF sponsors their main event - the Memphis Feis (Gaelic, pronouned "fesh") which is an Irish Dance competition, featuring 250+ Irish dancers from certified Irish dance schools across the country. This gives young dancers the opportunity to compete in serious competition with the possiblity of qualifying for the World Irish Dance Championships. In conjunction with this competition, is an Irish Music and Art competition which is open for entry to anyone - children and adults - in the Mid-South, with an entry fee. Spectator admission to the event is free to the public. The Memphis Irish Arts Foundation also holds a 5K Race called "Run for the Irish" on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day. This is not only a fund-raiser for the organization, but is also a cultural event in itself, as during the event there is entertainment by local Irish dancers from the Inis Acla School of Irish Dance, Irish pipers and an Irish band as well as Irish food.
