    This rarely screened dystopic sci-fi epic from German wunderkind Rainer Werner Fassbinder is a gloriously cracked, boundlessly inventive take on future paranoia. With dashes of Kubrick, Vonnegut, and Philip K. Dick, Fassbinder tells the noir-spiked tale of reluctant action figure Fred Stiller, a cybernetics engineer who uncovers a massive corporate and government conspiracy that threatens reality as we know it.
