    Based on Sardou’s 1887 play La Tosca and featuring some of Puccini’s best-known lyrical arias, Tosca captures Rome in 1800, threatened by Napoleon’s invasion of Italy. With soprano Angela Gheorghiu as the diva-esque Floria Tosca, Bryn Terfel as the malevolent police chief Baron Scarpia, and Lukas Jakobski as Cesare Angelotti.
