    Walter R. Locke (1883-1949) was a former lumber jack who expressed his devotion to nature and trees through his etchings. In his winter studio in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Locke produced numerous landscape prints, each reflecting months of meticulous plein air (outdoor) study. Selected from the Brooks’ permanent collection, these works display Locke’s mastery of the medium and also the beauty and diversity of Florida’s tropical foliage.
