Add Review/Comment
Indie Memphis continues its six-year collaboration with the Memphis in May International Festival, presenting four contemporary Belgian films at three venues during the month of May as part of Memphis in May's Salute to Belgium.
THE OVER THE HILL BAND is the story of a 70-year-old woman who used to sing in a girls band when she was much, much younger. After the death of her husband, she decides to go on stage again. She asks her rebel son -- down and out R&B musician Sid -- to help her start a new band with two girlfriends from the old days. Sid would rather drown in the North Sea than sharing the stage with mommy dearest, but in the end he agrees. On one condition: it has to be his music.
Admission: $7 each /$5 for Indie Memphis members and members of the Brooks. (Tickets are available in advance from the Brooks box office.)
Other films in the series include THE MISFORTUNATES (2009) on 35mm film at the Studio on the Square on 5/4, THE BARONS (2009) on 35mm film at the Studio on the Square on 5/12, and RUMBA (2008) at the Evergreen Theatre on 5/23 as part of a soon-to-be-announced film series.
