Members’ Brooks Books: The Private Lives of the Impressionists

The Impressionists tipped the world upside-down by radically breaking through the rigid artistic strictures imposed for centuries by the Royal Academy. They were modern painters painting modern life, and author Sue Roe captures the lives and stories of these devotees of light, color and landscape as they endure heartbreaking criticism, poverty, war and tragedy. Members, come for wine and great conversation as we deepen our appreciation for the art of the Impressionists.
