    Lecture - Redefining Power, Redefining Beauty: Veiling in the African Diaspora

    Dr. Mikelle Smith Omari-Tunkara is Professor Emerita of Theory, Methods, Art History of African, African Diaspora, and African American Art and Culture at the University of Tucson, Arizona and current Dorothy Kayser Hohenberg Chair of Excellence in Art History at the University of Memphis. Dr. Omari-Tunkara has lectured internationally and written extensively on permutations of ancestral Africa in the African Diaspora; gender, art, and power; and contemporary African art.
