The Dixon Gallery & Gardens is pleased to present 10 under 30, an exhibition of work by Memphis’ most promising young artists. The exhibition opens on January 20 and will be on view through March 6 in the Dixon’s Mallory & Wurtzburger Galleries, a space dedicated to promoting local contemporary artists.

“Memphis has such a strong base of young artists committed to staying in this city and helping to establish it as the cultural center of the South, and the Dixon celebrates that through this exhibition,” says the Dixon’s assistant curator, Julie Pierotti, the show’s organizer. “These artists are helping to shape Memphis’ cultural landscape for the future through their ingenuity and perhaps more importantly, through their hard work and dedication. As a curator under the age of thirty, I feel it is important for me to spotlight the work of my peers.”

From painting and printmaking to photography and craft art, 10 under 30 offers something for everyone and includes the following emerging Memphis artists: Kate Bradley, Eric Bork, Lauren Coulson, Eli Gold, Joel Halpern, Kyle Holland, Jesse Nabers, Emma Self, Rhonda Spight and Alex Warble. Although the artists work in a variety of media, all show an interest in experimenting with color and its saturation and various forms of pattern.

Lauren Coulson, Elisha Gold and Alex Warble will present lectures in the Munch & Learn lecture series, Wednesdays at noon. Check www.dixon.org for details.
