In the Mallory and Wurtzburger Galleries
Memphis artist George Bougher brings his unforgettable landscapes to the Dixon for the latest exhibition in the Mallory/Wurtzburger series. A self-proclaimed “gypsy,” Bougher has spent the last several years traveling around the country, depicting rural America with an honesty and clarity that makes his paintings so endearing. From the Allegheny Valley in Pennsylvania to the Black Hills of South Dakota to right here in the Mid-South, Bougher’s landscapes arise from his personal experiences with different areas of the United States. Passionate and enthusiastic about his art, Bougher’ recent ventures into figure paintings as well as still life will also be on display. The artist is also an accomplished blues musician, and all of his paintings both consciously and unconsciously have a storytelling element to them that is not unlike the music he loves.
