    Living legend is a term that's bandied about too lightly at times. But in this case, it fits. In a career spanning less than two decades, Daddy Mack Orr has played in the legendary Memphis blues band The Fieldstones, formed his own namesake group and released three albums that went to the top ten of the blues charts while playing before audiences from Paris, Tennessee to Paris, France. For his efforts, the Mississippi Blues Commission has honored Mack with a marker on the Blues Trail in his hometown of Como, MS joining a long line of distinguished Mississippi blues performers such as Son House, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Muddy Waters, Skip James, Bukka White, John Lee Hooker, Fred McDowell and B. B. King.

    When others might start kicking back and taking it easy, Mack and his bandmates are playing harder than ever. And the best place to catch this dynamic blues band up close and personal is on a Memphis Friday night at the intimate Center for Southern Folklore Store.
