The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music will celebrate OcTUBAfest with a series of concerts by students, faculty and a guest artist, culminating in a costumed performance: OcTUBAween on October 29.
The festival will feature Grammy award-winning soloist Aaron Tindall, professor at Eastern Michigan University and guest professor at Penn State University, and the premiere performance of the University of Memphis “Bottom Line,” a tuba, euphonium and percussion ensemble.
The International Tuba-Euphonium Association Student Chapter at the University of Memphis will hold a silent auction to raise funds for student initiated projects during intermission at the October 28 and 29 concerts.
Founded in 1973 by Dr. Harvey Phillips at Indiana University, OcTUBAfest events now take place around the world in locations such as Sydney, Australia, and Sapporo, Japan.
