Don't miss the premiere of the made-in-Memphis feature, THE GRACE CARD, opening the 13th annual Indie Memphis Film Festival at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 21 at the Playhouse on the Square!
First time writer/director David G. Evans crafts a tale of a man mired in despair and clinging to racial biases, who is forced to confront his character. Police officer Mac McDonald has been cultivating a life of anger and rejection since los...ing a young son in an accident. His embittered attitude prevents him from getting a promotion although he blames minorities for his financial woes and family troubles. When the newly promoted African-American Sam Wright is partnered with him, Mac sees it as just another slap in the face. But Wright is a part-time pastor and family man who won't give up on trying to connect with Mac. A crisis throws them and their families together in a way that forces them to face their faith. Academy Award-winner Louis Gossett Jr. has a crucial role as Sam's grandfather who provides guidance in questions of spirituality and family. (Jon W. Sparks)
