The Center for Southern Folklore is pleased to present one of Memphis's most respected and acclaimed blues bands, The Daddy Mack Blues Band on Saturday, October 9 at 9pm in the Folklore Store at 123 S. Main St. Led by singer/guitarist Mack Orr, The Daddy Mack Blues Band has enough grit, sweat, and passion to get any crowd on its feet to boogie. Their raw approach characterizes them as one of the most authentic urban blues bands since the 1970s. Mack developed his talents sitting in with the Fieldstones at Green's Lounge, one of the most popular juke joints in Memphis, TN. Over the last 15 years he has brought his deep, soulful sound as far as Europe and shared the stage with other notable musicians, including admirers Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones. Teaming with brothers Harold and James Bonner (bass, guitar) as well as drummer William Faulkner, Daddy Mack has created a mix of original music with classic tunes that is a testimony to the down-home traditional blues sound.

Daddy Mack Orr is living proof that you're never too old to learn. He didn?t start seriously playing guitar until the age of 45, but his talent and dedication quickly landed him a spot with Memphis's blues legends, The Fieldstones. In the mid-90s he formed his own band playing the kind of blues by Albert King and others that inspired him to pick up a guitar in the first place. At a time when others might start kicking back and taking it easy, Mack and his bandmates - Harold Bonner, James Bonner and William Faulkner - are playing harder than ever. Their first three albums, Fix It When I Can, Slow Ride and Bluestones all rocketed to the top of the blues charts, and the latest offering Bluesfinger is proving itself to be their best yet.
