    Celebrate Mandela Day with the launch weekend of the Freedom Series (July 15-18), a series of community-hosted films and conversations on topics of freedom. Admission to each program is FREE, with a $5 minimum donation suggested to benefit the hosting organization. On Saturday: 'From Helen Suzman's Story' & Selections from 'Voices From Robben Island' hosted by the National Civil Rights Museum. 'From Helen Suzman's Story' is a special selection from Carolyn Projansky's soon-to-be-released documentary "Breaking the Rules." Helen Suzman was instrumental in Nelson Mandela's release and is currently highlighted at the National Civil Rights Museum. Selections from 'Voices From Robben Island' is an exclusive interview with Nelson Mandela offers a personal look at his experience of political imprisonment at Robben Island. In the 1960's Robben Island was given the name Devil's Island and turned into a high-security prison for political prisoners opposed to South Africa's Apartheid regime. The interview reveals the triumph of freedom and dignity over repression and humiliation. ** 2010 celebrates 20 years since the release of Nelson Mandela ** July 18 celebrates Nelson Mandela's birthday, and has been officially designated Mandela Day worldwide
