    Explore the Italian countryside with a tribute to everything red, white and green.  Mendelssohn wrote his charming symphony after visiting Italy while Rossini wrote his opera about the travels of a young Italian abroad.  This performance also features cellist Alban Gerhardt performing Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, a work inspired by the musical traditions of Italy from centuries past. Daniel Hege, guest conductor. Alban Gerhardt, cello. Program: Rossini: Overture to The Italian in Algiers, Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4 in A, Tchailovsky: Variations on a Rococo Theme, Tchaikovsky: Capriccio italien.
