The University of Memphis Chopin Piano Festival will feature Bertrand Giraud, Danny Driver, Jerry Wong, and Albert Tiu. Albert Giraud has won numerous national and international musical competitions, such as the Flame Competition and the Chopin Piano Competition. He has performed throughout Europe, North America and Asia. In addition to possessing a wide solo and chamber repertory, he often performs works by contemporary composers. Repeatedly cited for musical intelligence, imaginative artistry and technical excellence, Danny Driver first attracted public attention in the United Kingdom by winning both the "Royal Over-Seas League Competition Keyboard Award" and the "BBC Radio 2 Young Musician of the Year Competition" in 2001. Jerry Wong has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Martin Bernheimer described his playing as "eloquent and elegant (with) passion and introspection" sensitivity and a finely honed sense of style." Albert Tiu has performed as a soloist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Hamburg Symphony, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Guangzhou Symphony,t he Northern Sinfonia in England and others. He has won competitions on several continents, and has recorded two solo CDs: "Variations" and "Salamisim."
