Coco Montoya on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise Luther Allison & Jimmy Thackery at the 1997 Eureka Blues Festival in Eureka Springs, Arkansas Dick Raichelson / The Real Beale This week we've got an awesome set from Coco Montoya, live from the 2009 Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. Montoya's career began in the mid-70s when Albert Collins asked him to join his band as drummer. Collins soon took Montoya under his wing and taught him his "icy hot" guitar style. In the early 80s John Mayall heard Montoya playing guitar in a Los Angeles bar. Soon after Mayall asked Montoya to join the newly reformed Bluesbreakers. He remained a member of the band for 10 years before going solo. His solo career has been nothing short of exceptional and he puts out great records year after year. Also this week, we've got a special set of Luther Allison and Jimmy Thackery playing together at the 1997 Eureka Blues Festival in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. You don't want to miss this! Guest host Dick Raichelson tells us about the history of Beale Street in his series, The Real Beale.
