    Henry Skolnick, contrabassoon; Susan Tomkiewicz, oboe January 22, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Henry Skolnick is recognized as a leading exponent of the contrabassoon. Composers from throughout the world have written works for him, and he is a frequent soloist with leading symphony orchestras. Susan Tomkiewicz is a recitalist and performs regularly with both chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras. An active proponent of new music, she has commissioned many for oboe. Skolnick and Tomkiewicz will be joined by U of M faculty members Lecolion Washington, bassoon and Michelle Vigneau, oboe. Ian Davidson, oboe; Jeffrey Lyman, bassoon January 23, 2010 at 1 p.m. Ian Davidson has appeared as soloist and chamber musician on five continents. He is Associate Principal Oboe of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Principal Oboe of the Austin Lyric Opera Orchestra. Jeffrey Lyman often performs on the international festival circuit, including the Moscow Autumn Festival, the Festival dei Due Mondi and the Academie Europiene d'art de Musique. He is known as an author and advocate of new music, and has many publications and commissions to his credit, Double Reed Festival Ensemble January 24, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
