J.D. Westmoreland Thursday, November 12 For over a decade, multi-instrumentalist J.D. Westmoreland has earned the reputation as one of the top session players, composers arrangers, and live musicians on the Memphis music scene today.. J.D has the unique ability to play with musicians of all generations, genre, and notoriety. In one session he could be playing alongside rockers like Willy DeVille and then just as easily keep up with the likes of veteran jazzman, Herman Green. J.D. was the founder of the jam band Delta Grass and today J.D.'s music continues to mix classical, jazz, world beat and otherworldly music in ways no one ever thought of before. As musician and reviewer William Lee Ellis wrote in the Commercial Appeal, ?Westmoreland covers more ground in 30 minutes than most composers bother to do in a lifetime". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Westmoreland The Center for Southern Folklore provides the music and the audience brings their lunch or purchases the goodies in the Folklore Store such as vegetarian greens, hot water cornbread or peach cobbler. Either way, the free Brown Bag Concerts on Thursdays and Fridays are one of the best reasons to live/work in downtown Memphis.

The Folklore Store is located at 123 S. Main Street @ The Peabody Place Trolley Stop in the heart of downtown Memphis.
