In what will be an unusual venue for him, Robyn Hitchcock, internationally renowned singer and songwriter, will perform an intimate solo acoustic concert at Malco's Studio on the Square during the final evening of October's Indie Memphis Film Festival.

Presented by the Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy, "An Evening with Robyn Hitchcock: Songs and Storytelling" will begin at 7 pm Thursday, Oct. 15, at Malco?s Studio on the Square. Doors will open at 6 pm.

Robyn Hitchcock's remarkable body of recordings span more than three decades, beginning with his highly regarded late-'70s work with post-punk psychedelicists the Soft Boys and continuing with a series of highly regarded albums under his own name as well as with his backup outfit The Egyptians and, more recently, the Venue 3 (featuring REM's Peter Buck on guitar, Minus 5/REM'er Scott McCaughey on bass and Minsitry/REM vet Bill Rieflin on drums).

Released earlier this year, "Goodnight Oslo" is Hitchcock's second full-length effort with teh Venus 3 and features contributions from The Decemberists' Colin Meloy, Hitchcock's former Soft Boys band mate Morris Windsor, and Harvey Danger front man Sean Nelson (who also starred in Lynn Shelton's 2008 Indie Memphis feature, "My Effortless Brilliance").
