The New Ballet professional ensemble brings its exciting blend of classical, contemporary and urban styles to audiences in this year's in-studio production of Freefall. Company members are featured in three solo works, Marta Graham’s Lamentation, Noelia Gracia Carmona’s Flamenco solo for Rudi Peyton and the beloved Dying Swan danced by Jookin’ Artist, Shamar Rooks. A reprise of Pulsations to Life by Graham Artist Blekely White McGuire is featured and Chris Roberts' hip hop-techno - ballet sensibilities are back by popular demand. Maxx Reed's tribute to the great pop artist who brought dance back to the main stream is a delightful romp in the vein of Slaughter on Tenth Avenue. An appearance by Bantaba African Company, New Ballet’s ArtsMemphis DanceSpace Incubator partner promised to drum up excitement and as always, there is a classical element to the evening as well as an appearance by the students from New Ballet School in the bridge building piece, Hide and Seek.
