Joseph, his father's favorite son, has prophetic dreams and is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Set to an engaging mix of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges as both timely and timeless.

      JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is an amazingly good show at Theatre Memphis. The set works well for the many actors. It lends just the right ambiance and allows the cast ample room to dance and sings. Barry Fuller is a super Jacob who is the father of all those boys. He provides his usual stellar performance. Kathy Caradine’s choreography is fast paced, athletic and overall great fun. It keeps everyone on their toes. André Bruce Ward’s costumes are priceless and especially the Pharoah-ettes’ gold leaf outfits, blue hair and aqua tennis shoes!! This is not the traditional biblical story. Jonathan Christian’s Pharoah almost steals the show. His hip swiveling, scarf tossing action is not to be missed. The audience loved it. The children’s choir was excellent and most entertaining. One child in particular, Hazel Violet Greene, never missed a beat. I think she is ready for Broadway! All in all, this is a splendid way to spend an evening and the whold family would enjoy this show. Collapse
