Memphis Dance Troupes, The Bantaba Dance Company of Memphis and Sankofa Drum and Dance Ensemble will unite for the first time on stage for the production, "Afrikan Revival: The Resurgence of Our Culture."
This concert will feature breath taking dances, toe-tapping drumming , and soul stirring songs from all regions of African It will also includes dances from regions of the Caribbean. This will be movement in its raw element and a great family event for all ages, races, and religions". Dance is the commonality that bonds all races, creeds, and religions. It's a form of freedom and joy that creates an energy that is indescribable; it's a spiritual movement that changes your life. When you see and feel it you don't forget it" says Corey Davis, founder of The Bantaba Dance Company.
Uniting three gifted dance troupes for this production is the unity that the city needs to see. "Afrikan Revival is simply a rebirth of a culture that honed the spirit of Unity" says, Maria Estes, founder of Sankofa." This production will create a feeling of expression, and will nurture a feeling of community and unity", says Sah Ankh Sah Maat founder of Abule Fan. Afrikan Revival: Resurgence of Our Culture will take you on a journey through the day and life of the African Diasporas, telling tales of love, harmony, war, and unity. This is an excellent event for families and children of all ages. This event will take place June 26th &27th, 2009 7:30pm at The New Ballet School located at 2157 York Avenue in Memphis, TN 38104.
