New South singer/songwriter Kate Campbell appears Saturday night June 20 in The Center For Southern Folklore Hall, 119 S. Main Street @ The Peabody Place Trolley Stop in the heart of downtown Memphis. Admission is $15 for advance tickets; $18 on the day of the show, and $25 for Golden Circle preferred seating which includes a special meet-and-greet session with Kate beginning at 6:30 p.m. Showtime is 8:00 p.m. Compassionate, insightful and a tad quirky,  that's the classic Kate Campbell approach. As the daughter of a Baptist preacher from Sledge, Mississippi, Kate Campbell's formative years were spent in the very core of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's, and the indelible experiences of those years have shaped her heart, character and convictions ever since. Growing up in a family of musicians left Kate well-versed in a wide variety of folk, blues, country and gospel tunes. This musical foundation serves her lyrics well, rooted as they are in the rich Southern storytelling tradition. Over the years, Kate has crafted a musical niche for herself telling stories that explore complex topics such as race, religion, history and human relationships making her one of the best of her generation of New South singer/songwriters. As wonderful as her CDs are, to fully appreciate Kate Campbell you have to see her in concert where she weaves a lifetime of stories and songs about growing up Southern into a performance marked by laughter, remembrances and hope. www.katecampbell.com
