    Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new WatotoMemphis Youth Development Center and Street Party

    You are invited to the Ribbon Cutting ceremonies of the new WatotoMemphis Youth Development Center. The WatotoMemphis center will serve as the hub for the future activities of the Memphis Cultural Arts Enrichment Center’s (501c3) Watoto De Afrika performing arts programs.

    In the evening, join us for a street party filled with song and dance including a special appearance by Dan Zanes and the Funzzies!  From 6-7:30pm.

    Our mission: Developing Memphis area youth academically, socially, and emotionally through performing arts education and stage performance. Founded in 1987, for more than 20 years over 3000 children have had their lives positively impacted by the program. The results have been that all of its students have successfully finished high school and gone to college or some other post high school graduate study.

    Meet special guest, two-time Grammy award winning performer and Watoto program supporter Dan Zanes featured on Playhouse Disney during a VIP reception 12:15 – 1pm immediately following the ceremony. Dan will introduce Memphis based performance group “The Funzzies”. The Funzzies will perform two songs from their show “Welcome to Funzville”.
