    Beginning in the late 1940's, fashion mavens everywhere were carrying Lucite handbags, a traditional form in an exciting new modern material. Considered de rigueur for modern women from the late 1940's until the 1960's, Lucite handbags seem to cry out,"Carry me!" Caryn Scheidt's encyclopedic private collection of Lucite handbags reveals the range of colors, shapes, forms, and sizes of these fabulous accessories.
