Indie Memphis Micro Cinema Club #43Indie Memphis to present short films by award-winning Canadian filmmaker
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Indie Memphis will present a showcase of the short films of award-winning Canadian filmmaker Jamie Travis, whose work “lies somewhere between the worlds of David Lynch and Wes Anderson,” according to Twitchfilm.net. Hosted by Power House Memphis, the program takes place on Wednesday, August 13 at 7:30 pm
at Power House Memphis (45 G.E. Patterson, between Main & Front Streets).
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
The program will feature the complete short film work of Jamie Travis, including:
WHY THE ANDERSON CHILDREN DIDN'T COME TO DINNER (13 min.), which
FilmThreat.com called “the kind of film Tim Burton wishes he could make. Kind of touching, kind of morbid and totally original.”THE SADDEST BOY IN THE WORLD (14 min.), which BlogTo.com said “features a color palette and musical score that is more reminiscent of a happy old-style physical comedy than a melancholic look at childhood depression... This is hands-down the best short film I have ever
seen."PATTERNS (9 min.), which the State News in Lansing, Michigan called “the most visually stimulating film you will ever see.”
PATTERNS 2 (14 min.) & PATTERNS 3 (20 min.), which The Torontoist described as “strange and playful films with gorgeous design; utterly hypnotic, and with the song-and-dance sequence of PATTERNS 3, endlessly quotable.”
