    The Firebird

    The Firebird

    Ballet Memphis

    November 1-November 2, 2008

    Add Review/Comment

Enter the realm of the dazzling Firebird who holds the key to one prince's happiness. This new imagining by world-renowned choreographer Mark Godden is paired with Stravinsky's evocative score for a magical event. The enchantment begins with a whimsical parade of the animal kingdom as seen through the innocence of childhood with "Carnival of the Animals," choreographed by Ballet Memphis' own Steven McMahon.

The dancers were great. I have not seen a Ballet Memphis performance in quite a while, and I was really impressed. The choreography, however, was very disappointing. Vomiting? Give me a break. By taking much of the magic out of the story, much of the magic was taken out of the dance. Collapse
