    Sculptor John McIntire's 50-year collection of 700 Hawaiian shirts are on display and sale in Vintage Hawaiian: The John McIntire Aloha Shirt Collection

    April 7 through April 18, 2008 in Memphis College of Art's Main Gallery, Rust Hall.

    A Hawaiian Luau with an Aloha Shirt Sale and Silent Auction is April 18 from 6 to 9 pm.

    Vintage Hawaiian: The John McIntire Aloha Shirt Collection features shirts in every size and color, and in every price range. General labels start at $15 and up, while the highly collectible vintage shirts, such as an early Duke Kahanamoku, Iolani, Ui-maikai, and many other top Hawaiian labels will be auctioned during the Luau Friday, April 18. MCA invites the public to join John in celebrating the free spirit of the Aloha shirt by purchasing a shirt from this collection. All proceeds from the sale of the John McIntire Vintage Hawaiian Shirt Collection fund a scholarship in his name. The public can share in his continued legacy by wearing his shirts, and like John, supporting the students of Memphis College of Art.
