Tim Kinard’s most recent work is a figuratively based carnival extravaganza that attempts to relate the daily human experience to the staging and limelight of a circus. He uses family friends and past experiences to drive his ideas. Poised in action and made of Styrofoam and paper, these life-size performers realize more than aerial acrobatics and high wire stunts. About ArtsMemphis
Known around the world for its blues and rock and roll, Memphis has a recognizable special vibe. ArtsMemphis exists to nurture this unique character and to magnify the city’s creative voice. We are a 45-year-old arts funding organization (the sixth largest in the United States), which provides annual operating and project support to 23 arts groups and administers some 150 additional grants on a year to year basis. The ArtsMemphis tagline is “your support matters” and indeed it does. As major fundraisers, grant-makers and arts promoters in the city, ArtsMemphis contributed more than $4 million to the Memphis arts community in 2007, and it is a fact that 95 cents of every dollar raised in our annual campaign is directed to our funded organizations. ArtsMemphis builds partnerships among artists, arts groups, donors, educators and culture lovers throughout the city and region. Recognizing that a lively arts scene has a major economic impact and is essential to the quality of life in Memphis, ArtsMemphis is encouraging the entire community to interact with the arts like never before. The current enhanced website with its expanded calendar of events has been introduced with that goal in mind.
